  11. -----------

  13. Space is a little utility which I originally wrote for DESQview.  It simply
  14. opens a small window and displays the currently available space on each of
  15. the drives that Space has been told to watch.  At regular intervals the 
  16. disk space is rechecked.  This version of Space has been completely rewritten
  17. to run under Windows 3.0.

  23. Space may be freely copied and distributed.  Continued use of Space after
  24. a reasonable evaluation period requires a one time $5 registration fee.

  26. Registration entitles you to the following:

  28.         - Use of Space on one computer at a time.  
  29.         - Online support.
  30.         - Online access to upgrades for the life of the product.

  33. Installing Space
  34. ----------------

  36. To install Space, simply copy or unzip it to your hard drive.  Then either:
  37.  
  38.         
  39.         A. Add it to the LOAD= or RUN= entries in WIN.INI.  This way
  40.            you can tell at a glance if you've got enough room left
  41.            to download that new version of FractInt or if a runaway 
  42.            program is eating up all your disk space.
  43.  
  44.         B: Add it to a program group in the Program Manager.  Then you
  45.            can just double-click Space's icon to see which partition
  46.            has enough room to install Borland's upgrade of the week.
  47.  
  48.         C: None of the above.  Space is just as easily run from the
  49.            File Run prompt of the Program and File Managers when you
  50.            need it.

  53. Configuring Space
  54. -----------------

  56. By default, Space will monitor all local hard drives in your system and
  57. will recheck the space every 10 seconds.  These settings can be changed
  58. by choosing the Config option on Space's system menu.

  60. The first field in the Config dialog box is the drive list.  This should
  61. contain the drive letters for each disk you want to monitor in the order
  62. you want them displayed.  For example, to monitor drives C, D, and F you 
  63. would enter:

  65.         CDF
  66.  
  67. in the drive list field.
  68.  
  69. Floppy drives can be monitored as well as hard drives.   If there is no disk 
  70. in the drive Space will report 0 bytes free on that drive.

  72. You may also specify the update interval (in seconds).  The interval field 
  73. should contain a number in the range 0-32767.   If 0 is entered, Space will
  74. not recheck the disk space until you double-click the mouse on Space's 
  75. window.

  77. Space saves its configuration information in a file called NORDSOFT.INI
  78. in your Windows directory.

  81. Temporarily Adding or Deleting Drives

  84. Drives can be added or deleted from the monitor list quickly by pressing
  85. the Insert or Delete key while Space is active.  Changes made this 
  86. way will not be saved to the configuration file.
